Premier Recording Studio to open in Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY - Troy Germano, former owner of the famed Hit Factory Studios, is opening new high-profile recording studios in Manhattan’s NoHo district. With its acquisition of two Solid State Logic Duality Consoles, Germano Studios is positioned to offer artists a world-class recording experience.

Owning one of the world’s most respected recording studios for more than 20 years, Germano has relied predominantly on SSL, having purchased 24 E/G/J/K Series and now Duality consoles since 1984. “I’m in the business of selling sound,” says Germano. “SSL allows my clients to go beyond ‘in the box’ mixing to get that great sound only SSL analog consoles provide. Duality’s flexibility makes it possible to provide services to producers, artists, mixers and engineers that they won’t find in other studios. When it comes to sound quality and workstation control, this console produces results far superior to anything else.”

SSL President, Phil Wagner, comments, “Germano and Hit Factory are prominent names that have been driving our industry since the early ‘80s. Troy is providing an environment where artists and producers can achieve exceptional results with our new Duality. Germano Studios will define the new commercial recording scene.”

Scheduled to open in mid-November, Germano Studios was designed by Studio Design Group and David Bell of White Mark Limited. Bell also teamed with Germano on designing and building The Hit Factory’s New York, London and Miami Studios, as well as the recently completed Red Bull Studios in Los Angeles.

Designed to closely integrate with a variety of workstations, Duality offers tremendous creative and sonic options. The console has a unique split channel path that enables channel processing to be placed in the input or monitor path of the workstation. In addition to a SuperAnalogue™ mic amp, each channel features a Variable Harmonic Drive™ input stage designed to add analogue character to sterile workstation outputs. A second to third harmonic drive control provides a range of tones, from the warmth of ‘60s tubes to the ‘edge’ of ‘80s transistors.

According to Germano, SSL’s Duality represents the latest benchmark for modern recording studios. “After careful consideration, I chose Duality for its exceptional sound quality and workstation control capabilities. Every engineer is familiar with SSL’s analogue console layout and the new features on this console make it even more desirable. Duality is the analogue console for the digital age.”

Duality’s TFT displays across all channels to provide comprehensive visual feedback on signal levels, channel settings, system configuration & routing delivers highly efficient multi operator Total Recall™. Duality offers VCA style or moving fader automation and complete control over DAW parameters from the console channel. Additionally, multiple stereo busses or multiple 5.1 stems make the best use of a full set of 5.1 pan/positioning controls on each channel.
