Al-Arabiya installs C200 HD

OXFORD, ENGLAND – Solid State Logic (SSL) today announced the installation of its C200 HD digital production console at Al-Arabiya, the 24-hour news channel of MBC Network, Dubai, the leading free-to-air, pan-Arab, news and entertainment broadcaster, reaching more than 150 million Arabic speakers around the world.

Al-Arabiya is currently upgrading its news servers to substantially increase its overall number of digital input channels, so the time was right to replace their analogue console with the C200 HD. The new console will be located in Al-Arabiya’s news gallery sound room.

According to Basheer Saad, News Channel Audio Supervisor, MBC Group, “We selected the C200 HD for its high performance and unique control surface features. It’s an all-digital console with all the advantages that offers, but its analogue-style layout provides near-instant access to multiple controls, which is very important in our work environment as it will be in use 24 hours-a-day for live news, current affairs, business and financial markets, sports, talk shows, and documentaries.”

Incorporating SSL’s popular in-line control tradition with a dedicated “knob per function” control surface, the C200 HD is particularly suitable for live-to-air mixing applications, where instant access to multiple controls is essential. The C200’s control surface enables audio engineers to focus on the mix rather than staring at a waveform on a screen.

Solid State Logic Area Sales Manager, Paul Lindsay, said, “Al-Arabiya is one of the most progressive and vibrant news operations in the region, and as such they have chosen a similarly robust broadcast console. We are very pleased to have delivered an extraordinary piece of technology that meets – and exceeds - all of their expectations.”
