Dual Computer Hybrid
The Blackrock is a dual computer hybrid: The dedicated console CPU provides processing for all channels and their associated signal processing and bussing. 40 bit floating point architecture underpins absolute sonic performance, using algorithms modelled from SSL’s legendary analogue consoles. Meanwhile, the firewalled Integration CPU provides secure access to the file management, diagnostics and SNMP facilities.
Exemplary Processing Capabilities
The Blackrock achieves exceptional performance (up to 53 GFLOPS) enabling it to handle over 1300 simultaneous audio paths, over 2000 simultaneous IO signals and 5.3 million routing matrix crosspoints. Each Blackrock DSP chip is 16 times more powerful than its Centuri predecessor, with a processing density at least 21 times greater. When synchronised to an external video source, jitter performance is better than 4 pico seconds, resulting in an exemplary low noise floor, high image stability and audio quality.
